Amazon FBA Peak Season 2026: How the New Surcharge Stack Hits Pet Chew Sellers

A $0.32/unit Peak Fulfillment Fee lands on top of the Fuel and Logistics Surcharge already in place. What Q4 2026 actually costs, and the two inbound deadlines that decide whether you pay it.

Amazon's peak season fee for Q4 2026 doesn't replace anything — it stacks on top of a surcharge that's already been running since spring. Sellers building landed cost around last year's fee schedule are about to find one line item wrong twice.

The stack, not just the fee

From 15 October 2026 through 14 January 2027, Amazon's Holiday Peak Fulfillment Fee adds +$0.32/unit to standard FBA fulfillment. It lands on top of the 3.5% Fuel and Logistics Surcharge, in place since 17 April 2026. For a Standard-size product priced $15–$35 — where most pet chew SKUs sit — the combined effect is +$0.45–$0.55 per unit during Q4 alone. On a container-scale order, that is real margin, not rounding.

Two inbound deadlines, not one

Standard inbound cartons need to be checked in to an Amazon fulfillment center by 19 October 2026 to avoid missing the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sell-through window. If you route inventory through AWD (Amazon Warehousing and Distribution) instead of shipping direct to a fulfillment center, the effective cutoff is earlier — 2 September 2026 — because AWD's own release-to-FC lead time eats into the calendar before the October date is even relevant.

Sellers planning around the later date while actually routing through AWD are the ones who find out the hard way, usually in early October when there is no time left to fix it.

What changed at the factory-spec level

Amazon has also wound down its own FBA Prep & Labeling Service for wood and natural chew SKUs, which in practice pushes FNSKU labeling back onto the factory. That means suppliers need to apply FNSKU labels 100% at point of production — not "when it arrives," not "at a US prep center as a backstop." Carton specification is being checked more consistently too: 5-ply (K=K flute) board, edge crush test above 32, and product moisture controlled under 12%. A carton that would have cleared inbound quietly in 2025 can get flagged now.

What this means for your Q4 order

The fee stack itself is not avoidable, but its total size is partly a packaging decision — see our related piece on cutting FBA size-tier fees with flat-pack design, which covers the one lever sellers still have after Amazon's own fees are locked in for the season. What you can control directly right now: get factory-applied FNSKU and 5-ply carton specs written into your PO, and confirm with your supplier whether your shipment is realistically an AWD or direct-to-FC route before you commit production to the 19 October date.

Where to start

Request a quote with your target ship date and we'll confirm the AWD versus direct-to-FC timeline against your factory's actual production lead time, plus current carton specification — before you're inside the deadline window rather than finding out at it.

Direct-to-FBA vs Prep Center for Pet Chew Shipments

Shipping a factory container straight into Amazon's network saves a step and removes a safety margin. When direct-to-FBA works, and when a prep center still earns its fee.
